Chicago Boy Dies After Car Hits Stroller Following Shooting

CHICAGO (AP) – Chicago police say a boy in a stroller has died after being hit by a car whose driver is a suspect in an earlier shooting. Officer Bari Lemmon says the child was pronounced dead Saturday at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital.

The Chicago Tribune reports the child is about 1 year old.

Police say someone shot a man in the hip and back around 1:45 p.m. on Chicago’s South Side, leaving him critically injured.
Around 2 p.m. a vehicle hit the stroller while driving in a neighborhood about three miles away. Police say the driver was a suspect in the shooting.

Micah Ocana says he saw the car drive onto the sidewalk where a woman was pushing the stroller. He says the car “ran straight over” the stroller.
