Lincoln Museum Offers Free Admission for Donated Backpacks

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is offering free admission to visitors who donate a backpack for students in need.
In a news release, museum officials say the backpacks will be given to students from the Springfield school district during a back-to-school party on Aug. 10.

Until then, people who drop off a new backpack may enter the museum and library for free or get a voucher to return at a later date.

The backpacks should be sturdy enough for students to carry supplies and books.
Admission to the museum typically costs $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $6 for children.
