District 205 to Lift Ban on Former Teacher Jim Jacobs

DIST205BOE2015Between last night’s District 205 School Board meeting and the last one, several community members asked board members to consider lifting the ban on Jim Jacobs and his wife Hattie.

Board Member Wayne Statham said that a letter should be sent to Jacobs by Superintendent Ralph Grimm to let him know the ban was being lifted.

Lindstrom said that because he was a member of the former board and current board, he should be the one to write the letter stating the ban would be lifted August 1st.

“I will write the letter to him, letting him know that effective 12:01 a.m. August 1st, the ban is lifted–no strings attached–it’s over with,” says Lindstrom. “By doing that, it means the action is taken into effect before the next board meeting, which we can lawfully do. It also means it’s done before school starts. It’s time to turn the page. I agree with Wayne, but that letter needs to come from me, because I have been here on both boards.”

During the meeting the board also reviewed district construction with both Galesburg High School and Silas Willard expected to go over budget.

The board also hired Jennifer Crock-Sibbing as the new principal for Gale Elementary School.
