Illinois Man Awaits Judge’s Verdict in Ex-Girlfriend’s Death

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (AP) – A Rock Island County judge is weighing the case of an Illinois man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend whose body was found in a Minnesota field.
The (Moline) Dispatch reports that Judge F. Michael Meersman’s verdict in Tim McVay’s bench trial will come either Friday afternoon or Monday morning. McVay is charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a homicidal death in the killing of 29-year-old Carrie Olson of Iowa.

McVay’s attorneys rested their case Monday. McVay, of Rock Island, didn’t testify but his attorney said he maintains his innocence.

Olson was reported missing after failing to show up at her Davenport, Iowa, job on Dec. 30, 2013. Her body was found April 5, 2014, in Dakota County, Minnesota, southeast of Minneapolis. Prosecutors say she was suffocated.
