Suburban Chicago 16-Year-Old Arrested After 2 Teens Shot

AURORA, Ill. (AP) — A 16-year-old from suburban Chicago has been arrested after police say a gun in his possession “went off,” hitting two teenagers with a single shot.

Aurora police say the two males hit late Wednesday were treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. They say the shot first hit a 17-year-old in the hand then hit the 18-year-old in the leg.

Police say the shooting doesn’t appear to have been intentional. They say the victims told them their 16-year-old acquaintance had possession of the gun when “it went off.” Police don’t know where the gun came from. They say no one could explain where the gun is now.

The teen was charged with three felonies, including reckless discharge of a firearm. He wasn’t identified.
