Marijuana Exec Puts up Illinois Tornado Victims at Hotel

DELAVAN, Ill. (AP) – The mayor of a tornado-damaged city in central Illinois says a medical marijuana company executive is paying for hotel rooms for people who lost homes.
Delavan Mayor Liz Skinner says displaced residents are grateful for the offer from Revolution Enterprises CEO Tim McGraw. The company has started growing cannabis at its undamaged facility in the city.

Skinner says Thursday’s tornado left “a mess” but “no lives were lost” and residents are determined to help one another with cleanup.

More than 50 homes were damaged as the tornado tore a mile-long path through town. City officials say they have no dollar estimate yet for the damage.

The National Weather Service says wind speeds reached 120 mph. Six of the damaged homes are a total loss.
