White Sox Activate RHP Albers from DL

White SoxCHICAGO (AP) – The White Sox have activated reliever Matt Albers from the 15-day disabled list and designated infielder Conor Gillaspie for assignment.
Albers broke his right pinkie finger during a brawl with the Royals on April 23. He has no record and a 1.59 ERA in four appearances with Chicago this year.

The White Sox announced the moves before Sunday’s game against Kansas City.

Gillaspie started at third on opening day, but is batting .237 with three homers and 15 RBIs in 58 games after he hit .282 in 130 games last year. The White Sox needed another pitcher in the bullpen, and rookie Tyler Saladino’s solid play at third made Gillaspie expendable.
