Pizza Ranch Development to Move Forward With Zoning Approval

pizzaranchAt last night’s Galesburg Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting, commission members voted to approve variances to four ordinances to accommodate Pizza Ranch development. The variances included allowing parking in the front setback, waive a designated loading space requirement, and to allow the construction of a sign that is taller and larger than ordinances allow.

Commission members expressed concerns that waiving a designated loading space and allowing the parking space to be used as a loading space may cause issues with customer access.

Pizza Ranch Franchise Owner Brandon Pratt attended the meeting and clarified to commission members that deliveries would happen before the restaurant opens.

“We require them to be there before we have people coming in the door, they actually unload the trucks themselves, we start bringing people in the door about 8:30 for employees,” says Pratt. “Obviously we don’t open up to the public until 11. So again, 95 to 98 percent of the time, they’re there before even the sun comes up, but 100 percent of the time they’re there before guests actually enter into the restaurant.”

After the commission members approved all the variances, Pratt added that they are anticipating opening by the beginning of 2016.

Commission members also briefly discussed the plans for the Hampton Inn and the Director of Community Development Roy Parkin said Raufeisen Developments needed to finalize financing before moving forward.
