Emanuel Overhauls Chicago Infrastructure Trust

CHICAGO (AP) – Mayor Rahm Emanuel is overhauling the leadership team of the Chicago Infrastructure Trust.
Emanuel created the trust three years ago to entice private investors to bankroll mega projects in return for a share of the profits.

Critics say it has failed to live up to expectations. Its two major projects so far include a $12 million deal to make a few dozen public buildings more energy efficient. In the other, the trust brokered a deal with major cellular providers to upgrade wireless networks in the subway system.

Emanuel says in a statement Friday that his changes will help “bring more of these innovative projects over the finish line.”

He named a new board and a new director, Leslie Darling. Darling is currently the city’s first assistant corporation counsel.
