2 Boys Injured in Tubing Accident on Fox River

CARY, Ill. (AP) – A boating accident on the Fox River in northern Illinois sent two boys flying off a towed inflatable tube and into another boat.
The two 12-year-old boys were hospitalized, one with minor injuries and the other with a possible broken leg. A woman in the second boat was also hospitalized.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Aimee Knop says the accident happened Friday in a narrow section of the river near the northwest Chicago suburb of Cary.

She says the boat towing the tube made a U-turn that sent the inflatable colliding into a second boat.

Knop says the boys hit the boat’s canopy and landed inside the vessel.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is investigating.
