Man Waving Gun Convicted in Illinois Road Rage Incident

URBANA, Ill. (AP) – A Champaign County jury took less than 15 minutes to convict a Kentucky man of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in a road-rage incident. Jermi Stevens faces as much as three years in prison when he is sentenced Sept. 14 for waving a gun at a truck driver who honked at him on a freeway near Urbana.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports the jury convicted the Winchester, Kentucky, man Friday.

Trucker Steven Johnson of Kendall, Wisconsin, testified that on the evening of Jan. 9 he was westbound on Interstate 74 when the driver of a BMW cut him off as he tried to pass another truck. Johnson says when he blew his horn at the driver, the 30-year-old Stevens reached to his right and held up a gun.
