Multi-Agency Resource Center Opens in Cameron for Residents

American Red Cross logoToday and Tomorrow there will be a Multi-Agency Resource Center for Cameron Residents to stop by at the Cameron Christian Church. The center will be open from noon until 8 p.m.

American Red Cross Regional Communication Director Trish Bernett says a wide variety of agencies will be available, such as the American Red Cross, Ameren Illinois and Salvation Army.

Bernett tells WGIL that these agencies will continue to provide services after today and tomorrow, but this is a way for residents to connect with all the agencies in a central location.

“We will continue to hand out clean-up kits, other agencies will work with them one-on-one,” says Bernett. “The whole purpose of the MARC is that people can get a lot of services in one location because after you’ve been through a disaster, it’s difficult to get around to all the different places you need to to get things replaced and find different services you need, like replacement driver’s licenses, those kind of things. It’s just really a convenience factor. Those services don’t go away, it’s just they’re a lot more convenient to access.”

Bernett says the American Red Cross will continue to accept monetary donations to help Cameron residents, while the Salvation Army is accepting good donations, such as food or clothing.
