Fertilizer Company to Break Ground on Milledgeville Facility

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A fertilizer company is set to break ground in the as-yet unused business park in the village of Milledgeville.

Blue Mounds, Wisconsin-based Midwestern BioAg will have the event Tuesday for a 17,000-square-foot fertilizer blending and distribution facility. The (Dixon) Telegraph reports that the company plans to hire between 15 and 20 workers over the next two years.

The company is the first business to set up in the Milledgeville industrial park. The park was created in 2008 and the land had been rented out for farming for several years.

Midwestern BioAg has since purchased all 30 acres in the park. Company officials say they’ll initially use 10 acres and could eventually add a research and development facility.

Milledgeville has about 1,000 residents and is 50 miles southwest of Rockford.
