Baby Left in Car for 2 Hours in Joliet in Critical Condition

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — Police say a 7-month-old boy is in critical condition after he was left in a hot car for about two hours in Joliet.

WGN-TV reports the boy was found unresponsive in the car around noon Tuesday by his mother, who didn’t know he was in the car. According to police, she had just left a meeting that began at 10 a.m., and the boy’s father had tried calling to ask where the boy was.

Deputy Police Chief Alan Roechner says the father had dropped off two other children at the mother’s home, and the mother thought the baby had been left there, too.

Roechner says the boy was revived by paramedics, but went into cardiac arrest. He was revived again, and Roechner says he remained in “very critical” condition.

No charges have been filed.
