District 205 Searches for Silas Principal as School Year Approaches

205logobwThe search for a new principal at Silas Willard Elementary School is on, as District 205 officials are hustling to make a choice in a timely manner.

Outgoing Principal Angela Stockman announced last week that she would be leaving the post to take a job in Peoria as the new District 150 instructional improvement officer. The move is a return home for Stockman, who worked as both a principal and curriculum director in the district for a number of years.

District 205 Human Resources Director Jon Bradburn says so far the search for Stockman’s replacement has gone well.

Bradburn says the district has interviewed three candidates so far with plans to review more.
205 officials are running short on time however, as teachers report for their first day August 12th.

Bradburn tells WGIL, they would like to get someone in as soon as possible, but they are making sure the person is right for the job.

“We’re in a hurry, but we want to be deliberate and purposeful in what we’re doing to hire this position,” says Bradburn. “School starts for teachers when they report August 12th, so we’re looking at a pretty tight timeline. We’re looking at going through the rest of this week and possibly next week trying to get a good candidate to take to the board.”

Bradburn says interviews have been positive. He says “having good candidates is a good problem to have.”
