Bloomington Father Accused of Unintentionally Killing Baby

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — A Bloomington man is accused of unintentionally killing his 11-week-old daughter, who authorities say suffocated while she was left overnight in a car seat with a blanket over her face.

The Pantagraph reports 34-year-old Timothy Crafton Sr. is charged with involuntary manslaughter in his daughter’s December 2013 suffocation. According to authorities, her suffocation led to her death in November 2014.

Assistant State’s Attorney Jacob Harlow says the girl was hospitalized, and was in foster care until she died in a Peoria hospital. Harlow says the girl’s parents changed what they told authorities, indicating the girl had been left in the car seat wearing a snowsuit.

Crafton was being held in lieu of $50,025. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
