WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) – Organizers have canceled an air show in northern Illinois because some residents near Waukegan’s airport would not agree to clear out of a safety zone during the two-day event.
The Wings Over Waukegan Air Show had been set for the weekend of Sept. 12-13. The cancellation was announced Wednesday.
The (Waukegan) News-Sun reports the show would have included appearances by U.S. Navy F-18s.
Wings Over Waukegan President Grant Farrell says most residents were cooperative but some balked at the requirement to be out of their homes for the two show dates and a three-hour rehearsal.
