Superintendent Ralph Grimm Strives For New Beginning in District 205

grimm at ntlNew teachers were welcomed into District 205 at the New Teacher Luncheon this afternoon.

Superintendent Ralph Grimm explained his ideas for improvement within the district, although many obstacles lay ahead.

Grimm previously asked the school board to hold Operation Rebuild. However, $35 Million worth of work is needed to be done in order to be complainant with building code over the next five years.

Grimm also touched on the expected FY16 budget deficit. He says currently the operational deficit is $2.6 Million with an overall deficit of more than $16 million.

The District 205 Superintendent says the community can’t dwell on the past, but instead needs to move forward in the new school year.

“We are not perfect, and we probably won’t be able to attain perfection,” says Grimm. “We may make mistakes moving forward, but we will be working hard to avoid them. We will be challenged by diminishing resources–those being time, people, money, and space. We will be mindful of the resources we do have, and work hard to use them wisely and efficiently.”

Grimm adds that “a strong school will make for a strong community.”
