Cameron Residents Work to Rebuild Tornado Torn Town

Cameron RebuildThroughout the town of Cameron, several residents are outdoors working on rebuilding the town after an EF-2 Tornado ripped through the area just under a month ago.Several agencies are out and about aiding residents, including multiple construction companies and cable services.

One resident, Scott McCullough says many neighbors have been helping each other rebuild their homes. McCullough tells WGIL that he hasn’t begun fixing his roof yet, but they’ve started clearing some of the trees.

“We haven’t done a whole lot of rebuilding yet, we’re still waiting to get a hold of somebody, my step-dad is,” says McCullough. “We took a bunch of trees out, but we haven’t done the roof yet.”

McCullough says fortunately his house was not terribly destroyed, but he had some roof, siding and window damage.

“We had the roof damaged pretty bad and some siding off the back and about four or five windows broke out.” says McCullough.

A fundraiser is being held this Saturday to replace the Cameron Tornado Siren that was destroyed, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cameron Ballpark.
