Tribune Tower Adding Wrigley, Comiskey Bricks to Facade

CHICAGO (AP)–They’re talking baseball at Chicago’s Tribune Tower.

Bricks from Wrigley Field and old Comiskey Park will be added to the exterior of the landmark 34-story skyscraper, which has artifacts from around the world embedded in its limestone facade.

Tribune officials say the bricks will be installed Friday near the building’s Michigan Avenue entrance. The bricks from Wrigley, home of the Cubs, will be on the north side of the entrance. Those from Comiskey will be on the south side, the direction of the White Sox home turf.

The building’s exterior already is embedded with 148 historically significant remnants, including from the Great Wall of China, India’s Taj Mahal and Abraham Lincoln’s tomb.
The practice began with longtime Chicago Tribune editor and publisher Col. Robert R. McCormick.
