Family, Friends, and Co-Workers Gather at Lake Storey for Bridge Dedication

jensen bridge 2A memorial was held yesterday, in honor of a Galesburg employee that passed away six years ago.

The hiking and biking trail bridge over the spillway at Lake Storey was dedicated to long time city employee, Lyman Jensen.

Jensen’s work in Galesburg did not go unrecognized according to family, friends, and co-workers.
Friend of Jensen, Jim Purlee tells WGIL, that the bridge is a testament to what Jensen accomplished to move the city forward.

“He was a very peaceful man who was also very helpful and informative, as far as moving city projects ahead,” says Purlee. “I remember him helping on a right-of-way project one time that I was involved with–he couldn’t have been more of a gentleman or more effective. He did a lot of good things for this city.”

Jensen’s name was a part of the beginning stages of building the bridge. The city parks and recreation department is reportedly looking to add on to the trail in the future.
