Hiller, Marilyn L.

Marilyn L. Hiller, 73, of Galesburg, died at 3:51 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born November 26, 1941 in Galesburg, to Lewis and June Hess. She married Delbert Sprinkle on December 28, 1961 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1967 while serving in the United States Navy. She later married William Hiller on June 29, 1968. She and Bill divorced in 1992, he survives in Louisiana.

She is survived by four children, Michael (and Sonja) Sprinkle-Hiller of Galesburg, David Sprinkle-Hiller of Galesburg, Wendy (and Gordon) Kircher of Prescott, Arizona, and Sandy (and Mark) Petrino; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles (and Dotti) Hess of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert.

She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959.

Marilyn was a cook and worked in several nursing homes and group homes. After she married Delbert, she lived away from Galesburg for 17 years in California, Rhode Island, New York, and Pennsylvania. She moved back to the Galesburg area in 1978. Then, in 1985, she moved to Florida, and later, Louisiana. She moved back to Galesburg, again, in 1996.

Marilyn was an active member the Henderson United Methodist Church. She loved crafting and sewing, and was active in her children’s lives. She will always be remembered as the one who cared for all of God’s creatures.

Cremation will be accorded. No visitation or service is planned at this time. Her remains will be buried next to Delbert’s in the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Galesburg Veteran’s Memorial. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is handling arrangements for the family.
