Galesburg Hampton Inn to Break Ground This Fall

Galesburg-city-signAfter a bit of delay and financial mishaps, the Hampton Inn and Suites anticipated for North Seminary Street is expected to begin construction sometime this fall.

That’s according to Raufeisen Developments President Todd Raufeisen, who says they anticipate the hotel to be up by fall of next year.

Raufeisen tells WGIL that they have been working on putting together an investment team, which is a reason for the delay.

“It’s just been a matter of putting together the proper investment team to properly finance the hotel,” says Raufeisen. “We’re about 40 percent designed right now, but we’re finalizing things and the process always takes longer than you think it will. We’re hopeful to get started this fall.”

The quad-cities based company developed an agreement that included the hotel, a restaurant and Aldi which were to be built by June 1st.

With the Aldi already built and Pizza Ranch in the works, the hotel is the last part to be started.

Mayor John Pritchard says the city spoke with Raufeisen a few weeks ago and they said they were still planning to proceed.

Pritchard says they are all paid up in the required funds through the year.
