The Skate Palace has been a part of Dee Hurd’s life as well as her brother Dan Reynolds since she was twelve years old. The brother sister duo purchased the rink from their parents in the early 2000’s to keep the business rolling.

Hurd tells WGIL, they had to close the rink a couple years ago do to economic reasons, but have been making renovations to appeal to both the younger crowd as well as the roller rink generation.

“Adults will get the chance to go out with their kids and help them learn, and spend some good quality time together without iPads and other electronic games and that kind of thing. Get some good family quality time. Grandparents can come in enjoy watching their kids skate because they remember skating. So it’s good to watch people reminisce, that’s always been one of the enjoyable parts”.

Hurd says renovations include repainting, resurfacing of the rink floor, a newly built concession stand, and revamping the outside decor.
