Report: Jackie Robinson West Took in Over $300K in Donations

CHICAGO (AP) — Documents submitted to the Internal Revenue Service show that Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West baseball team accepted over $300,000 in donations before Little League International stripped the team of its 2014 title.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the money has allowed the organization to build more than $200,000 in cash reserves.

The newspaper says the team’s yearly not-for-profit filing with the IRS shows it took in $324,325 in donations and $14,707 in fees from players from October 2013 to September 2014. However, the full amount won’t be known unless disclosed by team.

Attorney Victor Henderson represents the team.

He says it would be “inappropriate” to comment on the money. He says the funds will be used as they always have to help provide a top baseball experience for children.
