Severns, Kenneth

Kenneth R. Severns, 72 of Abingdon, died at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

He was born on January 14, 1943 in Galesburg, the son of Cline and Norma “Tootie” (Kilpatrick) Severns. He married Katy Kendrick in 1963 in Abingdon.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Katy, two sons, Patrick Severns of Abingdon and Chad Severns of Monmouth; two daughters, Toni (Monte) Coon of Fort Worth, Texas and Erica (Donald) Haywood of Abingdon; five grandchildren, Cody, Caleb, Ethan, Kendrick and Matthew; one brother, Jerry (Connie) Severns of Abingdon; two sisters, Deborah Watkins of Abingdon and Cathy (Rev. Ken) Klein of Marquette Heights; a half-brother, Dick (Mary Frances) Severns of Avon; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Norma J. Severns (infant), Donna Severns, Janet Miller and Joyce VanSkike, and two brothers, Ronald D. Severns (infant) and Rodney Severns.

He had lived in Abingdon all of his life. He attended Abingdon Schools. He retired from the Abingdon Pottery after working there many years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and NASCAR. He was also an avid Chicago Bears fan.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Hinchliff-Person-West Abingdon Chapel.
