In-flight Internet Provider Gogo Opens Chicago Headquarters

CHICAGO (AP) — In-flight Internet provider Gogo Inc. is up and running at its new global headquarters in Chicago.

Chief Executive Michael Small and Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the opening of Gogo’s new offices on Thursday.

Gogo moved from the suburb of Itasca, Illinois, to a building in downtown Chicago that houses offices of other tech companies like Twitter and Uber. The site, which used to be called River Center, was renamed The Gogo Building.

The company now has more than 730 employees in Chicago. The facility includes engineering labs for testing products and services and a global network operations center.

Besides Internet service, Gogo offers in-flight entertainment, text and voice messaging and other aero-communications services.

The company does business with 11 major airlines and has systems installed on 2,400 commercial aircraft.
