Wiliamsfield District 210 To Welcome U.S. Secretary of Education

arneduncanAs part of the back to school tour, the U.S. Department of Education will make a stop at Williamsfield District 210 this month.

District 210 Superintendent Tim Farquer says they are anticipating the visit from Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and senior Department officials.

Farquer tells WGIL, what the focus of discussion will be when the visitors are at the school.

“The overall emphasis is education technology. We’re really targeting the work that we’re doing to strategically leverage open education resources or O.E.R.’s”.

Farquer says in addition to discussing O.E.R.’s, the students will prepare to showcase last year’s STEM presentation.

Farquer explains the presentation is an example of what the community can build with energy sources during emergency situations.

The department will be starting the five-day tour in Missouri and Iowa, stopping in District 210 on September 15th, before moving on to other states in the Midwest.
