Arp, MaryMary L. Arp, 96, of Galesburg, IL formally of Alexis, IL went to be with her Lord on Friday September 4, 2015, at Seminary Manor Galesburg, IL.  She was born Friday June 6, 1919 the daughter of Frederick C. and Mamie (Tate) Happel in Palmyra, MO.  She married LeRoy H. Arp the love of her life, on August 31, 1937 in West Ely, MO.  She was glad he chose her to be his wife for the rest of their lives.  He preceded her in death on December 5, 2007

They had three daughters who survive, Barbara (Ted) Lafferty of Alexis, IL, Beverly (Mike) Norton of Galesburg, IL Brenda (Stan) Gregory of Alexis, IL.; 7 grandchildren Mark (Luona) Lafferty of Middle Amana, IA, Andrea (Mo) Heshmati of Parker, CO, Valerie (Dan) Faubion of Phoenix, AZ, Bryan (Carrie) Osborn of Monmouth, IL, Kristina (Grant) Eaton of Atlanta, GA, Steve (Dana) Gregory of Alexis, IL and Jeff (Heather) Gregory of Alexis, IL; 16 great grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Shirley Donelson of Palmyra, MO; cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Arp, her parents, 4 brothers, and 1 son-in-law.

She and her husband, after their marriage, lived in Yakima, WA. And Los Angeles, CA before coming back to Chicago and moved to the farm in 1945 where they lived near Alexis.  They had 70 wonderful years of marriage and spent their years together enjoying life.  They loved traveling and traveled the States, including Alaska and Canada.  She also helped her husband with farming.  They were a team and both enjoyed their antique cars.

Mary was a homemaker and liked to sew and made many beautiful quilts for her family.  She enjoyed her flowers, purple and lavender were her favorites.  She liked gardening and refinishing old furniture.  She also liked to do family history which she had on her family since 1739 from Hampshire County, VA.  She always enjoyed being with her grandchildren and her family.  She was a cancer survivor since 1989.

Mary attended Palmyra, MO schools.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson, IL.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday September 8, 2015, 11:00 am at  Zion Lutheran Church with a visitation from 9:30 to time of service.  Friends may call Monday September 7, 2015 from 4:00-6:00 pm (family will not be present).  Burial will be in the Alexis Cemetery; Pastor Beth Hamilton will officiate.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamily-hooverhall.com.  Wise Family ~ Hoover Hall Funeral Homes are in charge of the arrangements
