Galesburg Police Respond to Stabbing Incident Over Labor Day Weekend

galesburgpolicelogoAt approximately 3:47 p.m. on Sunday, Galesburg Police responded to reports of a stabbing at 1850 North Henderson Street. After some investigation, GPD found that 46 year old Brian L. Brush of Knoxville was stabbed outside the Rib Shack in self-defense by 47 year old Jeffrey M. Knuth of Galesburg.

Knuth told officers that his wife has recently left him for Brush, but returned because of Brush’s drug use. Brush became angry and attacked Knuth outside his work at the Rib Shack. According to the police report, Knuth had been punched in the face and grabbed his pocket knife in self-defense before hitting Brush with the knife while the case was still on. Knuth’s wife then drove Brush to the hospital, where he remains.

GPD determined that Brush was the instigator and are waiting for him to be released from the hospital before he is charged with Aggravated Battery in a Public Place and Criminal Trespassing.

GPD collected evidence of blood samples and clothing and are still investigating the incident.
