Knox County Has Successful First Zoning Adjudication Hearings

knox county sealLast night at the Knox County Zoning Committee meeting, the committee talked about how the first month of Zoning Adjudication Hearings went.
Zoning Administrator Chris Gray said there was a hearing held at the end of August, and Hearing Officer Wayne Statham did an excellent job handling it.

Gray said the defendant had been asked several times by the zoning department to clean up his property.

Gray told the committee that she really liked that Statham gave the man options of cleaning, re-zoning, or paying fines.

“He gave the defendant three options,” says Gray. “He indicated that he could either get it cleaned up like he has been asked to do, he could request re-zoning to be a junkyard, or he could start paying hefty fines that he would be hit with.”

Gray says they expect this man to attend the September hearing time to discuss progress.

Also at the meeting, the committee approved reclassification of an area at Oak Run so that the golf course could build a new roughly 10 thousand square foot clubhouse.

Gray said there was no objections by the zoning board or any member of the public.

A full board vote will be taken on the reclassification at the meeting on September 23rd.
