Galesburg Celebrates Illinois Chamber of Commerce Week

galesburg chamberGovernor Bruce Rauner and Galesburg Mayor John Pritchard have proclaimed this week Illinois Chamber of Commerce Week.

Galesburg Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Steven Brody says they will be offering discounted membership fees in celebration.

Brody says fees will be reduced by $50 if they can be paid in full during this week.

Brody tells Galesburg’s Evening News on WGIL that the chamber is there to help support, promote and advocate for local businesses.

“We’re known as the voice of the business community, but we obviously want to be known as an advocate for the community as a whole,” says Brody. “We want to see Galesburg succeed, and so our job it to inform, to educate, and to advocate for our members as well as for the community as a whole. As I have been going and meeting with other perspective members, I share with them that just because you join the chamber, you don’t have to feel obligated to attend everything.”

The Chamber of Commerce is hold several events including Small Business Day Luncheons or Grand Openings like the Casey’s General Store on Seminary Street.

The next event will be a Business After Hours Open House Event Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Klingner and Associates on Prairie Street.
