Galesburg Safe Harbor Impacted by State Budget Stalemate

Safe Harbor Executive Director Kathy Richardson tells WGIL that they haven’t had to layoff any workers yet, but they aren’t sure how much longer they can maintain their services without that reimbursement.

“We have been fortunate enough that we have not had any layoffs or anything like that so far, but we anticipate that we cannot go much longer without receiving any reimbursements for our services,” says Richardson.

Richardson says they have been fortunate enough to have the Purple Hanger Thrift Shop at 367 East Tompkins street, which directs proceeds to Safe Harbor.
The Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center is an agency that provides help to families experiencing domestic violence issues. Safe Harbor offers services such as court advocacy, a 24-hour help hotline, and an emergency shelter for adults and children.
