HUD Names Knox County Housing Authority a “High Performer”

12-30-14 Knox County Housing AuthorityThe Knox County Housing Authority is in line for some additional funding following a recent designation.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development or “HUD” recently named KCHA a “High Performer.”

The agency received an overall score of 91 out of 100 points in a housing assessment– a score that is based on attributes like physical condition of properties, financial viability, and effectiveness of the Capital Fund Program.

Because of the accolade, KCHA will receive $17,000 in additional funding from HUD. The money will go into the agencies Capital Fund, which is used for upgrades to buildings, operations, and systems.

KCHA Executive Director Derek Antoine says in a press release, that the designation is important so that “the community can rest assured that the agency is effectively and responsibly utilizing federal funding.” An overall score of 90 out of 100 is required to receive the “High Performer” status.

Antoine adds that work has already begun to drive performance indicators for the next appraisal period.
