3rd Annual Salmon Bake to be Held at Sustainable Business Center Tomorrow

Sitka SalmonFrom 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow, the 3rd Annual Salmon Wild Alaskan Salmon Bake will be held at Galesburg’s Sustainable Business Center to celebrate wild salmon.Hosted by Sitka Salmon Shares, the event will include tasting of different salmon recipes by six different area restaurants, a fish head toss, live music, cooking demonstrations and seafood related movies.

Sitka Salmon Shares Community Outreach Coordinator Jessie Frank tells Galesburg’s Morning News on WGIL that the restaurants are provided the salmon, then they prepare it with their own styles.

“This event would definitely not exist without their participation and their creativity,” says Frank. “What we do is, we supply them with all the fish and then they come up with their own recipes and their own menu items. We like to see their style and their personality shine through and it’s a great chance for them to promote their personalities. We have lots of different things on the menu.”

The restaurants include Iron Spike, High Noon Barbecue, En Season, The Landmark Cafe, Q’s Cafe, and Fig’s.

Tickets are $20 for adults or $10 for students and children.
