Monmouth College Celebrates 21st Annual Cultural Festival

Monmouth College Cultural FestYesterday, Monmouth College held their 21st Annual Cultural Festival, where international students could share information and food about their native countries. Some of the 32 countries represented include Jamaica, Brazil, Iraq, Nepal and Malaysia.

Monmouth College student and Malaysian Native Ahmad Bauzi tells WGIL that the festival allows him to tell people about his home country.

“I participated in this cultural festival to expose the community, especially the college community, about what we actually are from all different parts of the world,” says Bauzi. “In my case, I’m from Malaysia. Most people don’t know where Malaysia is. So, Malaysia is actually a really tiny country. Everybody knows Singapore, but nobody knows Malaysia, which is ironic.”

Singapore is actually a small city-state island right off the coast of Malaysia.

Also featured at the event was entertainment by Mariachi Sol de Oro and African drummers.
