State Rep. Don Moffitt Announces Decision Not to Run for Re-Election at Annual Picnic

Don Moffitt PicnicAt State Representative Don Moffitt’s Annual Family Picnic, he announced that he has decided not to run for re-election after his term is up.Moffitt said it was a hard decision, but he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Moffitt said in his speech, that this was not an announcement of retirement, as he still has 16 months left of his term and plans to stay active in the community.

“I want to make it very clear to everyone I’m not retiring, there are still 16 months left to work for you in this current term and that is my plan, to keep on working for you,” said Moffitt. “Who knows, maybe we will have another picnic sometime in the future, 2018 or later. I plan to stay very active in state public policy issues, and community activities. I’ve never seen a rocking chair that appealed to me, so we’re going to stay busy.”

Moffitt said initially he only planned to stay for 10 years, but wanted to see his capital improvement plans completed.

With the two overpasses completed and the main street underpass on it’s way, Moffitt said after a family meeting, he decided now was the time.
