Charlie M. Halsey, 68, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:00 A.M. on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at home.
He was born on August 23, 1947 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Lyle E. and F. Catherine Coultas Halsey. He was raised and educated in Knoxville, Illinois. He was first married to Patricia A. Coombs. He later married Candace A. Robbins on June 25, 1983 in Galesburg, Illinois. She preceded him in death in 2004.
Charlie is survived by his children, Valarie M. Halsey of Galesburg, Illinois, Timothy M. (Erin) Halsey of Keithsburg, Illinois, and Jason L. (Nora) Skrodenis of Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Alex, Ian, Marissa, Tyler, Maya, Evie, and Lily; his significant other, Vicki Joyner of Galesburg, Illinois; her son, Jeremy Dutton of Galesburg, Illinois and grandchildren, Chase and Jozlyn; one sister, Helen Stewart of Galesburg, Illinois; two brothers, William Halsey of Galesburg, Illinois, and Arlo Halsey of White Bear Lake, Minnesota
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a daughter, Cheryl C. Halsey.
Charlie worked at Maytag, Briggs Pottery, and retired from the Galesburg Sanitary District.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. David Shreeves will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg, Illinois. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
