Salazar, Praxedis

Praxedis Salazar, 64, of Galesburg, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

Praxedis was born on July 15, 1951 in Sabinas, Hidalgo Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the son of Praxedis and Mauricia Ledezma Salazar.  He married Elia Hilda Cruz on September 11, 1967 in Laredo,    TX.  He is survived by his wife, Elia of Galesburg; one son, Praxedis G. (Alicia) Salazar of Lawrence, KS; two daughters, Irma M. (Samuel) Garcia of Galesburg and Elia H. (Armando) Salazar of Topeka, KS; ten grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one brother, Juan Antonio (Carmen) Salazar of Rosenberg, TX; three sisters, Martha (Juan) Cruz of Galesburg; Enedelia (Ciro) Gonzalez and Estella (Luis) Vedia; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Praxedis worked as a machine operator for 30 years at BNSF.  Praxedis enjoyed his family and loved having his grandchildren around when he could.  He enjoyed watching television especially baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no local services are planned.  His ashes will be interred in Laredo, TX at a later date.  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
