Mass Planned for 2 Nuns Killed in Suburban Chicago Crash

OAK LAWN, Ill. (AP) — A memorial Mass is planned for two nuns killed last year in a head-on collision in suburban Chicago.

Monday’s service for Sisters Jean Stickney and Kab Kyoung Kim will be at the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Oak Lawn.

Authorities have said the man who caused the crash that killed him and the nuns had a blood-alcohol level more than two times the legal limit. Stickney was 86 and Kim was 48.

The (Tinley Park) Daily Southtown cites hospital spokeswoman Kelly Cusack as saying those affected by the deaths are sad but also “moving on together” from the tragedy.

Stickney and Kim belonged to the order that founded the hospital. Stickney served on the hospital’s board. Kim was from Korea and in the U.S. to continue her education.
