Sam creekSamuel R. Creek Jr. 75, of Alexis, IL passed away Wednesday September 30, 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Peoria, IL.  He was born Saturday February 7, 1940 in Memphis, MO. the son of Samuel Sr. and Maxine (Overfield) Creek.  He married Gean Aubrey on November 23, 1962, she survives.

He is survived by his wife Gean of Alexis, IL; children Tammy (Alan) Caves, and Tim (Andrea) Creek of TN; grandchildren Elizabeth (Brandon) Phillips, Corbin (Victoria) Meador, Lucy Creek, step grandchildren Suzanne Holeman, and Valerie Whittington; great grandchildren Hudson and Emma, and step great grandchildren Nadya, Austin, and Olivia; borthers and sisters Shirley (Jerry) Stead of Viola, IL, Wally Creek of Alexis, IL, Ethel (Owen) Conard of New Mexico, Dave (Laura) Creek of TN, John (Becky) Creek of TN, Paul (Anita) Creek of Alexis, IL, Phil (Shirley) Creek of MS, Mary (Rick) Shaw of Alexis, IL, sister-in-law Angie Creek and brother-in-law Larry Nichols.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Stan Creek), sister (Doris Nichols), nephew (Zach Creek) and niece (Kathy Creek).

He was born in Memphis, MO and lived in New Windsor and Alexis.  He graduated from Alexis High School in 1958, and worked for various farmers in the Alexis area as well as four years at Admirals in Galesburg, IL.  He worked as a welder at John Deere from 1966-1996, and retired from there after 30 years.  Samuel was an active member for 20 years of the Westside Assembly of God Church in Davenport, IA, where he volunteered for a variety of occupations including building the actual building, ushering, pageants, and refurbishing an old school bus to transport people from his community to the church.  He was an active member at Harvest Church of God in East Galesburg, IL.  He loved restoring Simplicity Lawn Tractors, remodeling his home, and collecting antique tools.  He thought there was nothing better than John Deere., Craftman Tools, old Chevy cars, and Simplicity Tractors.  He was a meticulous handy man and loved gardening.  He loved and enjoyed his family, brothers and sisters and especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

Funeral will be Monday October 5, 2015, 10:00 am at the Wise Family – Hoover Hall Funeral Home Alexis, IL Burial will be in the Alexis Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday eve October 4, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Wise Family – Hoover Hall Funeral Home Alexis, IL.  Memorials may be made in his memory.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamily-hooverhall.com.  Wise Family-Hoover Hall Funeral Homes are in charge of the arrangements.
