Guzman, Juan Jose

Guzman, JuanJuan Jose Guzman Sr., 68, of Galesburg, died at 4:10 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born April 10, 1947 in Allende, Coah, Mexico, the son of Juan Jose and Eva (Aguillera) Guzman. He married Frances Ann Maciel on November 20, 1968 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death June 13, 2002.

He is survived by a son, Juan Jose Guzman Jr. of Galesburg; two brothers, Jesus (and Martha) Guzman of Galesburg and Hector (and Carolina) Guzman of Eagle Pass, Texas; three sisters, Arhelia (and David) Vasquez, Yolanda (and Pedro) Reyes, and Lola (and Oscar) Castillo, all of Allende, Coah, Mexico; a sister-in-law, Chila Guzman, also of Allende; and several nieces and nephews.   In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rumaldo Guzman.

Juan was a core worker first at Iowa Malleable for 25 years and then for Aluminum Castings for 20 years. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Juan was also a member of the Moose Lodge.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m.   Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Father William Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Juan’s name may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or to the family.
