Terrorism Suspect Due in Court for 2nd Straight Day

CHICAGO (AP) — A suburban Chicago man facing terrorism charges is due in federal court for a second consecutive day.

Tuesday’s status hearing is in a separate case in which Adel Daoud is accused of attacking a fellow inmate this year. His lawyer has said the other inmate taunted Daoud with a cartoon drawing of the Prophet Muhammad.

Prosecutors say the attack occurred in the federal jail where Daoud has been awaiting trial since his 2012 arrest for allegedly trying to set off a bomb in downtown Chicago. It was part of an FBI sting. Daoud appeared at a status hearing in that terrorism case Monday.

Daoud faces multiple charges in the alleged jail attack, including assault with intent to murder. Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf in August.
