United Student Arrested for Threats

United High School red stormA United High School Student was arrested last week for allegedly making multiple threats, including a threat to “shoot up graduation” later this year.

That’s according to Warren County State’s Attorney Chip Algren, who says 19-year-old Anthony Bruns was charged with disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.

Algren says Bruns made the comments to a number of students not long after school started. The issue was dealt with internally by administration and not reported to authorities.

Algren tells WGIL that additional threats made last week involving the intent to stab another student resulted in the arrest.

“Last week, he apparently made some other statements to a female student, not directed at her, but making comments about wanting to harm another student,” Algren says. “She reported that to school authorities, they then contacted the sheriff’s department and ultimately this resulted in his arrest. I know he’s suspended from school at this time.”

Algren says there was no written or social media threat made, which would have increased the charge. Authorities found no evidence of conspiracy or a school “hit list” either.

Bruns will appear in Warren County court later this month. If convicted, he could face up to 30 days in jail, and a fine of up to $2,500.
