New City Attorney “Excited” to Serve Residents

Bradley NoldenThe City of Galesburg hired a new City Attorney and Corporation Counsel earlier this week.

Bradley Nolden will officially be appointed to the combined position on November 2nd.

Nolden is a native of Joliet. He’s a graduate of the University of Iowa and the University of Missouri School of Law.

Current Counsel John Hanlon, who is retiring at the end of the month, had a hand in hiring the new counsel, alongside Mayor John Pritchard, City Manager Todd Thompson, and a number of other City officials.

Nolden tells WGIL, that working with the selection committee was a positive factor that influenced his decision to accept the job.

“Everyone is very friendly there, they had great questions for me,” says Nolden. “They presented Galesburg in a way that made it sound like a very exciting opportunity, particularly with it being the first time they had an in-house City Attorney–that was very attractive to me, that opportunity to building things up from the ground and get started.”

Most recently, Nolden has worked with a private law firm in Morris, where he served a number of municipal corporations in Grundy County.

In Galesburg, Nolden will be responsible for all legal affairs, including representing the city in litigation, working with ordinances and ordinance violations, and rendering legal advice.

The incoming legal aid says he is “excited” to work with citizens and city administration in the new role.
