Auxiliary pledge “to go a long way” for OSF St. Mary

OSF ST. Mary Medical CenterLast week, members of the OSF St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary supported their hospital by offering up plans to raise a hefty chunk of change over the next few years.

Auxiliary members announced at the annual Fall luncheon last Wednesday, that they would pledge to raise $200,000 to help fund the relocation of the Center for Outpatient Services and the Cardiology Department.

That’s according to Volunteer and Auxiliary Coordinator Shelley Willett, who says the money will be raised over the next three fiscal years.

She tells WGIL the donation toward the $1.2 million project is expected to have quite the impact.

“We’re really excited about it,” Willett said. “We haven’t raised this much in awhile. Last time we did, in 2005, we pledged $300,000 for the emergency department project between the years 2005 and 2008. This is really a huge undertaking, but when Roxanna Crosser, our president, came to the board for the request, there wasn’t one board member that hesitated. I’m really proud to be a part of that.”

Willett says COPS and Cardiology is moving to offer up space for a new $30 Million surgical center that will inhabit the entire second floor of the hospital.

The relocated area will move from the second floor down to the first floor. Willett says the move will both centralize services and will save patients from the hassle of “going up and down floors.”
