Cyclists of Galesburg to Hold Three Lakes Ride this Weekend

Cyclists of GalesburgOne of the year’s larger bicycle rides will be taking place this weekend around Knox County.

Cyclists of Galesburg is holding its third annual Three Lakes Ride on Saturday.

COG member Jeremy Karlin says the group rides regularly, but this weekend’s 43-mile- trek coincides with another large ride that takes place every Spring.

Riders will make their way to Lake Storey, Lake Bracken, and Lake Rice throughout the day Saturday.

Though the mileage may seem high to some, Karlin says it’s not a race, and all athletic abilities are welcome. He tells Galesburg’s Morning News on WGIL that they won’t leave you behind.

“Cyclists of Galesburg has always been committed to being an inclusive group,” says Karlin. “Even our weekly rides, we have what’s called a no drop policy. Let’s say you’re a beginning rider and you’re a little anxious about going out there with people who cycle regularly. You’re not going to be out there alone watching the pack go past you or off into the distance.”

Karlin adds that authorities will be out blocking traffic in spots, and GHAS will accompany the ride in case of any emergencies.

Cyclists will take off Saturday morning from the parking lot downtown between Main and Ferris streets.
