MCHENRY, Ill. (AP) — A teachers union in the northern Illinois community of McHenry has approved an agreement with the school district to end an eight-day strike.
McHenry Community High School Educators Association members ratified the contract Monday afternoon after reaching a tentative agreement over the weekend. The school board is expected to formally approve the agreement at a meeting next Monday.
More than 2,500 students will return to class at McHenry Community High School on Tuesday.
The strike over teacher salaries and insurance benefits began Oct. 1 and involved more than 150 teachers at both high school campuses.
All classes and school activities were canceled and homecoming festivities were postponed.
