Here is a recap of tonight’s game courtesy of WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:

“On a night of pendulum swings, that created for some exciting football at Quincy, the last pendulum swung in the favor of the Blue Devils who defeated the Galesburg Silver Streaks 35-32. With one week remaining in the regular season Galesburg is still seeking that elusive 5th victory that would make them play-off eligible for the IHSA play-offs. Quincy goes to 5-3 with their own victory, they are play-off eligible and they and the Silver Streaks finish at 3-2 tied for second with Moline in the Western Big 6, which was won by the Rock Island Rocks after a 15-14 win over Alleman.

“The offensive star of the night for the Silver Streaks was Nick Myler, we had him for 22 carries for 261yds and 5 touchdowns. Some key missed extra points put the Silver Streaks in a hole, they turned it over twice, and they had some costly penalties in the game that allowed Quincy to prevail by the 35-32 final. The home team has won in this head-to-head series each of the last 11 seasons and the last 5 games have come right down to the wire decided by overtime or 3pts or 2pts. So the rivalry is alive and well but Quincy gets the better of the Silver Streaks and for the moment keeps them out of play-off eligibility 35-32.”
