Thompson, jean IJean I. Thompson, age 80, of Woodhull, IL, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17 , 2015 at United Church of Woodhull. Burial is in the Woodhull Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull where a memorial fund will be established. Online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com.

She was born May 13, 1935 in Nekoma, IL to Roy and Irene Payne Norberg. She graduated from AlWood High School. She married Richard “Spike” Hambleton in 1956. He died in 1978. On June 20, 1980, she married Richard E. Thompson in Woodhull. He died October 1, 2009.

Jean was a homemaker and was born into a musical family. She played organ, piano, performed singing telegrams, taught piano lessons and belly dancing. For many years she managed the Alpha Roller Skating Rink. Recently, she was the Grand Marshall of the RidgeWood Homecoming Parade in Woodhull. Her spirit and love for the comunity, her family and friends was evident to all who knew her.

She was a member of the United Church of Woodhull, the Order of The Eastern Star and the Jaycees Women.
She enjoyed garage sales considering herself a professional yardsaler. She loved AlWood sporting events and especially spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include one daughter: Roxanne (Brent) Bringolf of Woodhull; three sons: Gordon Hambleton of Woodhull; Joel (Tammy) Hambleton of Ottawa; Gary Hambleton of Greenwood, IN; two stepdaughters, Teri Thompson of Aledo; Cindy Thompson of St. Louis; 3 stepsons: Rick (Linda) Thompson of Alpha; Randy Thompson of Galesburg; Roger (Cindy) Thompson of Columbus, NE; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 brother, Don (Dorothy) Norberg of Andover, IL. and several nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, one son, David, 1 brother Merrill and one granddaughter, Jessica.
